About Glendale

Glendale United Methodist Church | Nashville, Tennessee

Glendale Methodist Church was founded in 1945 in the growing Glendale neighborhood of south Nashville. In 1968, with the merger of the Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church, the congregation became Glendale United Methodist Church. Since its founding, Glendale has considered its placement in a neighborhood setting to be an important part of its ministry. We open our doors to the community in a variety of ways: neighborhood meet and greet events, our annual Easter egg hunt, and hosting rehearsals of the Olde World Theatre Group, to name a few.

At Glendale, we are a very close-knit community. This provides genuine opportunities to enter into meaningful relationship and to offer and receive support. Glendale’s approach to community could be described as “watching over one another in love.” Although all persons in our community have the choice of how involved they wish to be, all are welcomed and appreciated.

Our church building also includes a Retreat House where church groups, travelers, or people simply seeking a quiet retreat can come to deepen their relationship with God. We also share our upstairs with ministry partners who offer spiritual direction, counseling, and other ministries. Our grounds include a Labyrinth, where all are welcome to take some time to slow down and enter into a time of walking prayer.

Sandra Griggs has been our pastor since 2000, and with her guidance we have entered into ministries through which we seek to live out the call of God in a variety of ways.

We meet for Worship every Sunday at 11:00 a.m., with Sunday School at 9:45. We invite you to join us for Sunday worship or any other event held by our community.
