Karen Collier Passes Away

COLLIER, Karen S.Age 90 of Nashville. Was born in Era, Texas on June 15, 1919 and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 12, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy L. Collier; her parents, Florence Morgan and Clarence Clifford Sherrill. She grew up in Collinwood, TN where she played high school basketball and made the all state team. She is survived by her son, Philip M. Collier and daughter-in-law, Linda K. Collier; granddaughters, Laura Kate Collier and Janey Harper Collier whom she loved and were the light of her world. Karen was a charter member of Glendale United Methodist Church where she served the Lord as a dedicated member of the financial team and the United Methodist Women. Her passion was sewing and knitting. She knitted hundreds of hats for the homeless. The family wishes to thank Wanda Harris, her caregiver and special friend, and the dedicated caregivers of Odyssey Healthcare and Jackson Park Christian Home. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 14, 2009 at Mount Olivet Funeral Home from 3 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home with Interment to follow in Mt.
